Welcome to Taylor Whitmore,
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sewing Assistant to support a production team. As a Sewing Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with various sewing tasks, preparing materials, and ensuring the smooth operation of our sewing processes. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for sewing, an eye for detail, and a desire to work in a creative and dynamic environment. Previous experience is needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Sewing Tasks: Support the lead seamstress or production team in sewing, stitching, and assembling garments or textile products according to specifications.
- Fabric Preparation: Measure, cut, and prepare fabrics or other materials as required, ensuring precision and accuracy.
- Machine Operation: Operate and maintain sewing machines, including threading, changing needles, and adjusting settings to achieve desired results.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring that all items meet the company’s quality standards before packaging.
- Material Handling: Organize and manage sewing supplies, fabrics, and materials to ensure a clean and efficient workspace.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the sewing area clean and organized, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored after use.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while working with sewing equipment and materials.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in sewing, tailoring, or a related field is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Skills: Proficiency in using sewing machines and hand sewing techniques; ability to handle a variety of fabrics and materials.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and accuracy in cutting, sewing, and assembling items.
- Creativity: A keen eye for design and an understanding of garment construction is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Workshop or production floor, with exposure to sewing machines, fabrics, and other production materials.
- Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm, flexible for the right candidate
- Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting, bending, and standing; ability to handle and move fabric rolls and other materials.
Our client are based in Hadleigh so you will need to be able to reliably commute here each day or live locally.
